Under 10's Information
Welcome to the under 10's page. This age group is for children in the school year 5 age group starting on 1st September, i.e. children aged 9 at the 1st of September 2012.

New Players Welcome
All new players are welcome, big and small, and anyone interested can contact Dave Butler via e-mail davebutler@orrufc.co.uk or telephone 01422 371672 for a chat to discuss the benefits of getting involved in a growing and successful rugby club with a fantastic set up. It doesn't matter if you haven't played rugby before as at Rishworthians we will ensure you develop the skills and have fun playing rugby. Interested? Then come along any Friday evening and give it a TRY.

When do the squad train
The squad train on a Wednesday evening 6:15 to 7:30pm. Contact any of the U10's coaches or the team administrator below or feel free to turn up at a training session.

When do the squad play matches
The playing season runs from September to the end of April and games are on Sunday mornings. We meet at the club at 10:00 for a warm-up and finish playing matches by noon.

2012 - 13 Season - The Under 10's

After the major changes of last season when we moved into contact rugby, the transition to under 10's rugby are relatively small and insignificant. This season you play with a size 4 ball and we are adding contested scrums and line-outs and this will change the shape of the game and of those playing it. Possession a key element for all teams (there is an old saying if you have the ball your opposition cannot score but you have the opportunity to do so). Those in a position to do that, and indeed turn over opposition ball, will be difficult to beat. The game at this level requires strength, speed, determination, and fitness; it is this great combination of skills and attributes that makes rugby a great game for all people of all sizes. A team with all of these skills will be very hard to beat.

We have a very experienced team of 5 coaches with RFU Coaching qualifications. They will ensure all players of all abilities have a pleasurable rugby experience in a safe and controlled environment. There will be a number of players returning again this year but it would be great to see a few new arrivals. The emphasis is on enjoyment and team spirit through rugby; this team believes everyone should enjoy their rugby!

Interested in Sponsoring the Minis
Anyone interested in sponsoring the Minis please contact any of the coaches or people below. The amount can be as little as £5 upwards. The money goes into a pot to buy equipment such as balls, tag belts, tackle shields, training shirts, coaching tops, marker cones and poles. The list is endless there is always new equipment to buy or replace worn out equipment.
