Under 13's Latest News - 1st August

There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.

Assistant coaches
If there are any parents who would like to help Mark with the coaching please contact him. We will arrange courses you can attend and develop your coaching skills.

Match reporters
We also would like a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. We just require the result, who scored tries, the playing squad, and a few words on the game with any man of match winners etc

Team manager
We require a team manager to welcome new players and complete a membership form. If they enjoy the 2-3 week free taster sessions ensure they become RFU registered and create a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games and collect their membership subs.

Review of 2018 - 19 Season - The Under 12's

This season the RFU introduced new rules for the under 11s which involved an increase in the team size to 12 players and were able to field 2 teams the Panthers and Pumas and playing on half a full size pitch.

After the September training sessions the squad entered Brods Festival and in a pool with some tough teams. They won two games, lost 2 and drew 1. In the district Festival they lost their opening game but won the remaining games. December was saw litle rugby due to the poor weather. At the Sandal Festival the won all four games and only conceded 1 try to win the festival. Towards the end of the season they travelled to Lancaster for the Vale of Lune Festival. They entered 2 teasms and both teams were unbeated and again they only conceded 1 try. The u12s also have a big squad of 25 and run 2 sides the Panthers and Pumas and had a slow start but some new players joined and results improved after Xmas. They played 28 games won 14 drew 5 and lost 9.

2018 - 19 Season - The Under 12's

>The under 12s will play 12 a side midi contact rugby on a half size pitch. This season sees the introduction of a second row in the scrum and a full set of backs. Kicking the ball is permitted and a contested strike in the scrum. Competition for the ball at the breakdown is now unlimited.

We are always looking for new players and we will require several more players to join and boost the squad numbers to be able to run two teams so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.

So if you are an experienced player or new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 7s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games some weeks they play away games at other clubs.

Under 12s activities/skill development

The under 12s play 12 a side midi contact rugby on a half pitch. Three more players are introduced, 2 second rows to make a 5 man scrum and a full back. There is now unlimited contest for the ball and the scrums are made up of nearest 5 players and a contested strike for the ball. On match day Sundays the squad meet at 10am and train/warm up till 11am when the matches start. Some Sundays are dedicated to training/player development, these are on average one Sunday per month (see fixtures on the menu bar).
