There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.
We are looking for a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. Its not a time consuming task or requires knowledge of rugby. We just like to record the match results and who scored the tries. The players do like to see their names in the paper and on the website
We require a team manager to help with the administration and welcome any new players to the squad and ensure they become RFU registered and have a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games.
The under 11's had a steady start to the season winning six games and losing six with four draws up to the Xmas break. The district festival was a great success finishing unbeaten as runners up. They beat Ilkley, Baildon, and Huddersfield and drew with Cleckheaton and Ribblesdale. December was mainly a washout with the weather. January was not much better. The last three months February - April saw the squad finish the season strongly losing only 3 more games. A few new players has kept the squad at 20 players which allowed the coaches to run 2 sides the lions and the tigers plus run competitive training sessions which has improved player development.

This season the squad play 12 a side midi contact rugby and there are a few new rules to work on in training. There is now unlimited competition for the ball at the tackle or break down in play. Three more players are introduced, a full back and two more forwards to add a second row in the scrum. The 5 man scrum formed by the 5 nearest players are also allowed to contest at the feed. Players are allowed to kick the ball and call for a Mark. So quite a lot of new skills to develop this season.
We are always looking for new players to join and boost the squad numbers to be able to run two teams so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.
So if you are an experienced player or new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 11s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games, remember some weeks they play away games at other clubs.
The under 12s play 12 a side midi contact rugby on a half pitch. Three more players are introduced, 2 second rows to make a 5 man scrum and a full back. There is now unlimited contest for the ball and the scrums are made up of nearest 5 players and a contested strike for the ball. On match day Sundays the squad meet at 10am and train/warm up till 11am when the matches start. Some Sundays are dedicated to training/player development, these are on average one Sunday per month (see fixtures on the menu bar).
