There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.
We are looking for a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. Its not a time consuming task or requires knowledge of rugby. We just like to record the match results and who scored the tries. The players do like to see their names in the paper and on the website
We require a team manager to help with the administration and welcome any new players to the squad and ensure they become RFU registered and have a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games.
The u13s squad were the surprise team this season with six new players boosting the squad to 26 players. After losing their opening game they went on to win most of their games just losing 5 matches all season. In the Yorkshire Cup they had a great run to reach the semi final but lost to Otley. The new players made a big impact with the squad and 3 of the six finished as the top try scorers
Under 13's playing record
P 15 Won 10, Lost 5, F 630, A 265
Leading try scorer was Max Merta 24 tries, followed by Tom Webster 18 tries and Tyler Southernwood 14 tries

This season the squad play 13 a side contact rugby adding a number 8 to the pack and a major change they play on a full size pitch. There is unlimited competition for the ball at the tackle or break down in play and the scrum is a 6 man contested scrum. Players are allowed to kick the ball and call for a Mark. So quite a lot of new skills to develop this season and plenty of work on fitness to get around the pitch.
We are always looking for new players to join and boost the squad numbers. Unless we have a big intake of players we will only run one team with unlimited inter changes so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.
So if you are an experienced player or new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 11s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games, remember some weeks they play away games at other clubs.
