There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.
If there are any parents who would like to help with the coaching please contact them. We will arrange courses you can attend and develop your coaching skills.
We also would like a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. Its not a big job, we just require the match results, the players in the squad, the try scorers and any awards eg man of the match. If you wish you can add a match summary.
We require a team manager to welcome new squad players and explain the procedures. Once they have completed a trial period and happy to continue playing, ensure they complete a membership form and become RFU registered and hold a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games.
The under 9's had another great season only losing 3 games all season. Thet started well with wins over local rivals Brods and going on to lose only three games up to the Christmas break. The fiirst defeat was to Brods in the District Festival final and then 2 defeats in a friendly to Rochdale A and B teams. They won the Brods Festival.
In the second half of the season it was more of the same with Scunthorpe to inflict the only defeat. The new recruits Seth Hodder and Jared Holroyd were great additions to the squad

After another excellent season of competitive rugby the squad this season will see the introduction of the scrum with the nearest 3 players. The squad should also be looking to run with the ball and try to evade the tackle and look and pass and receive the the ball whilst running. The game also moves from 7 a side to 8 a side and competition forf the ball at the breakdown.
We will be looking for new players to join and boost the squad numbers to be able to run 2 teams the Cougars and the Jaguars so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.
So if you are new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 9s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games some weeks they play away games at other clubs.
